For Dogs:
Chama Dog Lodge is a cage free environment for highly social dogs. The lodge is best suited for those dogs who truly enjoy the company of other dogs as well as humans. Aggressive dogs are not allowed. There is a traditional kennel in town for dogs who need to be alone. At the lodge we create a home like environment where your dog becomes a part of our pack. A typical day includes hanging out in the fully enclosed yard, snuggling on the couch watching tv, and playing with other dogs of similar size and temperament. All dog play sessions are supervised by Kytha Gernatt, a professional dog trainer.
For day care, small dogs are kept separated from big dogs but they still remain part of the family.
For boarding clients who are physically fit with excellent recall I take an hour long walk everyday in the Sergeant's Wildlife Preserve. I treat your dog as I treat my own, giving them plenty of exercise and lots of love and attention. All dogs sleep in my bedroom with me (on the bed if space permits and they can share it nicely). Your dog really is in a home environment, maybe not their home, but they get used to it pretty quick!
Space is limited to 4 dog visitors per day.
Special rates for repeat and long term clients.

I use positive reinforcement to establish a working relationship between you and your dog that is based on trust and the dog's natural instinct to work in partnership with us. My goal is to teach humans how to become the leaders of their packs without using harsh and harmful methods. I teach you the highly effective techniques that professional wild animal trainers use that never employ punishment, but rather communicates clear boundaries and encourages compliance through positive rewards.
For Chama residents:
If you have a new puppy, but can not afford my full fees please contact me. I will make special arrangements for you. I want to do what I can to make sure your puppy becomes a great adult dog. There are some very simple and very effective tools I can give you, that the sooner they are implemented the easier and happier it will make your life and the life of your dog. Just like humans, once dogs develop bad habits, they are much harder to correct than if they had never developed them to begin with. Do not think that puppies will outgrow these bad habits because the opposite is true. Whatever puppies are allowed to do, they will insist on doing as adults, only stronger and with more conviction. So please do not hesitate to call me with your concerns. I may be able to help you out over the phone.
